How to pack and ship your speakers to us?

Print this article

Instructions:

  1. Remove the faulty speakers from the cabinet and disconnect the wires from the terminals. Note carefully the polarity – it is important.
  2. If you are sending your speakers in to us to have the foam surround replaced, and the old foam is crumbling away and falling to bits, pull all the old bits of foam away from the cone and frame and brush away the scraps with a soft brush so there is no old foam protruding above the frame as in Figure 1.
  3. If you are sending your speakers for different repair job, check to see if the foam surround protrudes above the frame as in Figure 1.

If so you will need to protect the surround from being squashed, which could push the cone down and permantenly stretch the rear suspension. Wooden or plastic golf tees pushed into the screw holes of the frame are ideal:

  4. If you don't have golf tees, you can use threaded screws with nuts and washers both on top and underneath the frame.
  5. Now wrap each speaker individually in a piece of cardboard at least 3 mm thick. Pack them up in a box with some soft packing and post to:
