125 Years of Thorens
Thorens appeared in the era when the world was blooming with technological advances. The lightbulb, microphone, photography, motion pictures, sonar and aeroplane are some of the inventions from that time that shaped the world as we know it now.

Playing your records doesn't have to involve tweaking or time consuming adjustments. Designed for simple operation, the fully automatic function sets the needle on the record, returns it to its resting place at the end and shuts off the drive motor.
Despite the essential attributes, there is real technology under the cover. A Thorens precision belt drive system and an electronically controlled DC motor system provide stable speed control. And with a low noise bearing system and a distortion-free aluminium platter, TD 170 provides exceptional sonic performance and long life. And it even plays 78s!

The 2-part non-static platter mat consists of fine granules made to effectively suppress the typical resonances generated in vinyl records during playback and to provide a silent foundation.
The two parts are designed to compensate for records of various thickness without having to adjust vertical tracking alignment. Thorens Platter mat really works with very noticeable increases in clarity across the frequency spectrum.
